Career-Tasu Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Masao Aridome) conducted a survey from June 1 to 7, 2026, targeting university seniors (including second-year master's students in science fields) expected to graduate in March 2027, to understand their current job-hunting status. A total of 1,013 students responded.
<< Main Findings >>
1. Job Offer Status as of June 1 (※) … Table 1
○ Job offer rate is 81.2%, slightly below the previous year’s同期 figure of 83.7%, but remains at a high level. ○ 43.0% of students are continuing their job search, combining those with and without offers. There is a significant difference between humanities and science students: nearly half of humanities students continue (47.0%), compared to about 30% of science students (32.2%).
2. Reasons for Undecided Job Choice Among Students with Offers … Table 2
○ The top reason is 'My top-choice company is elsewhere and I’m still in the selection process' (35.5%).
3. Industries of Employing Companies … Table 3
○ 1st: 'IT and Software', 2nd: 'Construction, Housing, and Real Estate', 3rd: 'Banking'
4. Examination Application Status
○ Average number of companies to which students submitted entry sheets increased from 11.8 to 13.3. The number of written exams and interviews also rose.
5. Trends Among Students Continuing Job Hunting … Table 4
○ On average, students are in the selection process with 2.4 companies and plan to apply to 1.8 more. ○ The most common aspect they are reconsidering is 'target industry' (39.4%), followed by 'company size' (22.0%).
6. Changes in Application Motivation After Receiving Offers … Table 5
○ 41.3% of students reported that their motivation to join increased due to post-offer follow-up, particularly among humanities students.
