Hakodate Tsutaya Books (Hakodate City, Hokkaido) will hold the "Hakodate Literature Marche 2026" for the first time on July 18 (Sat.) and 19 (Sun.), 2026. Twenty-three creators who write and produce their own physical books will gather to sell them directly. Please enjoy encountering unique books that are rarely seen in bookstores.

Hakodate Tsutaya Books, which has been helping to enrich lifestyles through books, planned this event as a new initiative to support people who create books. We aim to connect books with books, and people with people, delivering encounters with new worlds right next door.

Exhibitor Introduction

Creators working in various genres, such as essays on travel and parenting, picture books, and illustration collections, will gather.

The spread of social media has made it easy to share one's thoughts and feelings with many people. Furthermore, the spread of e-books allows us to purchase books we're interested in at any time. Nevertheless, physical books are still special. We open the cover with excitement, regardless of the content, and can't stop turning the pages, eager to know what comes next. The satisfaction of having beautifully designed books on our shelves, the feeling of tracing the paper's texture with our fingers. These are indeed unique pleasures of physical books. Have you ever thought about expressing such enjoyment yourself? And sharing it with various people? Have you ever dreamed of that?

We have continued to help enrich and bring joy to your lives through books. Our next challenge is to support those who create books. We aim to connect your book with someone else's book, and help you encounter new worlds right next door. The "Hakodate Literature Marche" is born with the hope that this will become a place where you can feel the energy of physical books and those who create them up close.

Initially, we planned to recruit 20 groups, but in the end, a total of 23 exhibitors will participate. We have learned that there are many people in Hakodate and Hokkaido who create or want to create books, and we have already received a lot of energy even before the event begins. On the day of the event, a wide array of books that you wouldn't normally find in a bookstore will be on display. Please come and experience the joy and passion of book creation firsthand.
