A ceremony was held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Finnair's service inauguration at Chubu Centrair International Airport.

Since launching in 2006, the year after Centrair opened, Finnair has operated as a key air network connecting Europe and the Chubu region. It currently plays a vital role as the only scheduled European route at the airport.

Ceremony Highlights The event was attended by organizer Mr. Hiroki Kurata, Finnair's General Manager for Japan, along with Mr. Hironori Kagohashi, President & CEO of Central Japan International Airport Co., Ltd., and officials from Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City, who celebrated the 20th anniversary. Moomintroll also made a special guest appearance.

During the speeches, Finnair's Mr. Kurata expressed his gratitude to all stakeholders and his hopes for future development. Officials from Aichi Prefecture and Nagoya City also noted the route's contribution to regional exchange and economy, expressing expectations for its future growth. Airport President Kagohashi mentioned the solid business and tourism demand, his intent to work with the community to expand inbound demand, and the future goal of achieving year-round, daily operations.

Water Salute On the same evening, the arriving flight from Helsinki (AY79) was greeted with a water salute, a special gesture to commemorate the 20th anniversary.
