Hamamatsu City has been hosting the annual 'High School Mathematics Contest in Hamamatsu' to foster strong next-generation talent in mathematics, promote excellence in STEM among local high school students, and support regional companies in securing skilled human resources.

We are now pleased to announce the opening of applications for the '5th High School Mathematics Contest in Hamamatsu,' open to high school students nationwide, as well as the 'Mathematics Summer Camp,' designed for past finalists of this contest.

1. Overview: 5th High School Mathematics Contest in Hamamatsu

(1) Schedule and Venue Online Preliminary Round

July 26, Reiwa 8 (Sunday), 13:00–15:00 Final Round

Day 1: August 24, Reiwa 8 (Monday), 11:00–18:00 at Hamamatsu City Welfare and Exchange Center (140-8 Narukicho, Chuo Ward, Hamamatsu) Day 2: August 25, Reiwa 8 (Tuesday), 11:00–15:00 at Create Hamamatsu (2-1 Hayamacho, Chuo Ward, Hamamatsu)

(2) Eligibility High school students nationwide. Students of equivalent age (15–18 years) or enrolled in institutions equivalent to high schools are also eligible.

2. Overview: Mathematics Summer Camp

(1) Program Details - The Mathematics Summer Camp is a special 5th-anniversary initiative for past finalists (alumni) of the High School Mathematics Contest in Hamamatsu. - The program consists of three parts: a 'Problem-Creation Contest' to visualize mathematical thinking and foster creativity; an 'Alumni Challenge' where participants solve outstanding problems from the contest; and a 'Mathematics Workshop' where current finalists (active high school students) and alumni form teams to apply mathematical thinking to real-world social challenges. - The workshop will also include networking opportunities with local companies interested in STEM talent.
