What is the Saigo Project?

Kagoshima City will mark two major milestones: the 200th anniversary of Saigo Takamori's birth on January 23, 2028 (Reiwa 10), and the 150th anniversary of his passing on September 24, 2027 (Reiwa 9). In anticipation of these significant events, the city has launched the 'Saigo Takamori 200th Birth and 150th Death Anniversary Commemoration Project,' a collaborative initiative involving citizens, businesses, organizations, and the municipal government. The project aims to promote the city's charm nationwide through the life story of Saigo Takamori.

Collaboration with Kagoshima City's Official E-Commerce Site

The city's official e-commerce platform, 'Kagoshima City Collection,' where local specialty products can be purchased, has launched a dedicated special feature page titled 'Saigo Takamori 200th Birth and 150th Death Anniversary Special Collection.'

The special page introduces the Saigo Project and offers for sale local specialty products associated with Saigo Takamori, as well as official Saigo Takamori merchandise. The number of listed items will continue to expand in the future.

Additionally, in reference to the number '315' associated with Saigo Takamori, the site will offer special 'Saigo Price Sets' at commemorative prices.

This initiative aims to promote the appeal of Kagoshima's local products nationwide, further publicize the Saigo Project, and enhance the visibility of the Kagoshima City Collection platform.
