Kawasaki City has announced that as of the end of March, Reiwa 8 (2026), the number of trees planted in the "1.5 Million Trees for Citizens" tree-planting initiative, undertaken with citizens and businesses since fiscal year Heisei 22 (2010), has reached 1,520,000, thus achieving the goal of 1.5 million trees.

This initiative began as the "1 Million Trees for Citizens" campaign, sparked by the tree-planting festival held at Ikuta Ryokuchi (Tama Ward) as a satellite venue for the National Tree Planting Festival in Kanagawa Prefecture during fiscal year Heisei 22 (2010). Subsequently, with the cooperation of many citizens and businesses, the goal of 1 million trees was achieved in December, Reiwa 1 (2019), and the target was further raised to 1.5 million trees, with efforts continuing.

Even after reaching the 1.5 million tree milestone, we will continue to track the number of trees planted and promote the creation of a green city through measures such as distributing saplings at events and commemorative tree plantings in conjunction with park maintenance.

To commemorate the achievement of 1.5 million trees, a "1.5 Million Trees Planted Achievement Commemorative Tree Planting Festival" is scheduled to be held in October, Reiwa 8 (2026), which is Urban Greening Month. Details will be announced once they are finalized.

To Citizens, Businesses, and Related Organizations:

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of the citizens, businesses, and related organizations who have been involved in the "1.5 Million Trees for Citizens" campaign over many years and have supported our tree-planting activities, we have achieved a number of trees planted equivalent to one tree per citizen. We express our sincere gratitude once again.

Under the philosophy of "Protecting, nurturing, utilizing, and passing on greenery to the next generation," this city will continue to work with its citizens to create a sustainable green city.

We kindly ask for your continued understanding and cooperation.
