The Kasa Community Center in Maizuru City will host a 'Cicada Molting Observation' on Saturday, July 25, Reiwa 8, for elementary school students and their guardians.

The event begins with an engaging session at the community center, where participants will learn about the fascinating life cycle of cicadas and the mechanism of 'molting'—the process by which nymphs shed their exoskeletons and transform into adults. Afterward, the group will move to Shidaka Shrine, located next to the center, to quietly observe the magical moment when nymphs climb trees and emerge from their shells in the serene night air, guided by expert commentary.

This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from an expert of the 'Japan Cicada Association,' making it an ideal hands-on program for summer vacation research projects or creating special family memories.
