With the arrival of the rainy season, hydrangeas are blooming one after another in various locations throughout Takatsuki City, delighting visitors. Along the approach and around the main hall of Ise-ji Temple, associated with the Heian period poet Ise, and along the approach to Ankoku-ji Temple, which houses the Important Cultural Property "Wooden Seated Thousand-Armed Kannon Statue," colorful hydrangeas in red, blue, and purple have begun to bloom, and are expected to reach their peak next week.

【Ise-ji Temple】

Ise-ji Temple is a Sōtō sect temple said to have been built on the site of the former residence where Ise, a renowned female poet of the mid-Heian period and one of the Thirty-Six Immortals of Poetry, spent her later years.

Access: Take the Takatsuki City Bus bound for "Hiyoshidai" from the north exit of JR Takatsuki Station, get off at "Kamitenjin," and walk about 5 minutes.

【Ankoku-ji Temple】

Ankoku-ji Temple is said to have been founded by Prince Kaisei, a son of Emperor Kōnin. It houses the "Wooden Seated Thousand-Armed Kannon Statue," which is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan.

【Jōgu Tenmangū Shrine】

Jōgu Tenmangū Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, known as the god of learning. It is said that in the early Edo period, Naokiyo Nagai, the lord of Takatsuki Domain, built the worship hall and erected the stone torii gate.

【Takatsuki Castle Park Arts & Culture Theater】

Takatsuki Castle Park Arts & Culture Theater is built on the site of the former Ninomaru (second bailey) of Takatsuki Castle. It features an outdoor plaza with open cafes and benches, serving as a place for citizen interaction and a hub for the creation and dissemination of culture and arts, attracting many citizens.
