Takayama City Launches Lifelong Learning Platform 'Minkana Takayama'
On May 22, Takayama City (Mayor: Akira Tanaka) announced during a regular press conference the commencement of operations for a new lifelong learning platform called 'Minkana Takayama.'
'Minkana Takayama' is an information dissemination site that consolidates information on local courses, events, workshops, and club activities, designed to support citizens in 'knowing, participating, and connecting.'
### Origin of the Name The name 'Minkana' is derived from the Hida regional dialect, meaning 'let's do...' or 'why don't you try...?'. It reflects the city's aspiration to encourage new learning and activities, such as 'try it,' 'learn it,' or 'go there.'
### Background of the Platform Although numerous organizations in Takayama conduct attractive activities, challenges such as budget constraints for flyers and a lack of know-how in promotional methods meant that information was not effectively reaching citizens. This platform was developed to centrally manage information, broaden lifelong learning opportunities for citizens, and promote exchange throughout the region.
### Key Features - **For Citizens**: Easily search for events and group information and access the latest updates at any time. - **For Organizations**: Freely post and update information about events, courses, and recruitment directly. Even organizations without their own websites can utilize dedicated pages and inquiry forms.
### Registration and Access - **Eligibility**: Organizations and groups conducting lifelong learning-related activities in the city. - **How to Register**: Apply online via the official website. - **Official Website**: https://minkana-takayama.jp/
