The Toyonaka City Fire Department will hold an entry ceremony on April 18 (Saturday) for the 3rd term of the Matikane Firefighting Team (Toyonaka City Boys and Girls Fire Club). In recent years, the probability of large-scale earthquakes originating from the Nankai Trough has increased. Furthermore, as Toyonaka City is located at the northern end of the Uemachi Fault Zone, significant damage from urban-epicentered earthquakes is feared. Amidst these concerns, the Matikane Firefighting Team was formed to provide children with opportunities to learn about fire prevention and disaster response from a young age, with the goal of nurturing future leaders in regional disaster prevention. In its third term this year, 70 children will participate as members, engaging in activities related to fire prevention and disaster response, such as initial firefighting training and water rescue training. Through the children's learning and experiences, the aim is to spark awareness among parents and the community, thereby enhancing disaster preparedness across the entire region. * Date & Time: April 18 (Saturday), from 10 AM * Location: Toyonaka City Fire Department / North Fire Station Joint Building (1-8-24 Okanocho, Toyonaka City) * Content: Entry ceremony, initial firefighting training, fire department discipline training. Keywords: Toyonaka City, Firefighting, Children, Disaster Prevention.
