Toyonaka City has announced that it will temporarily allow garbage disposal using bags other than the city's designated ones from June 1st to July 31st, 2026. This move aims to prevent burden and confusion in daily life resulting from temporary shortages or stockouts of designated bags at some stores, triggered by recent Middle East tensions.

The city conducted a survey of retail stores to grasp the supply status of garbage bags. While supply remains regular and bags are available at many stores, it was confirmed that they are difficult to obtain in certain areas or shops.

Although the city has confirmed that manufacturers will maintain the supply of designated bags, this emergency measure is being implemented in consideration of the impact on citizens' lives. Please note that there are no changes to the waste sorting methods.

Outline of the Emergency Measure:

Period: Monday, June 1, 2026, to Friday, July 31, 2026 *Subject to extension depending on the situation.

Acceptable Bags: Transparent or semi-transparent bags that allow the contents to be seen (Opaque milky-white or colored bags are not allowed). Size: Approximately 10 to 45 liters.

Disposal Method: Must be clearly marked with the word 'Gomi' (Garbage) to prevent accidental collection errors. Example: Writing directly with a permanent marker, or attaching a paper sign.

Please check the city's official website for further details.
