Toyonaka City will install water dispensers in all municipal schools to strengthen heatstroke prevention measures for children and students, with operations starting sequentially from July of Reiwa 8 (2026). This initiative will place water dispensers in shared spaces within school premises to create an environment where children and students can routinely hydrate throughout the day.

This effort will promote habitual hydration and reduce the risk of heatstroke during periods of extreme heat.

Overview of the Municipal School Water Dispenser Installation Project

1. Background and Objectives

Due to recent severe heatwaves, there is an increasing need to strengthen heatstroke prevention measures in schools. Ensuring that children and students can easily access water for regular hydration has been identified as a key priority, leading to the decision to install water dispensers in all schools.

2. Implementation Details

Target Schools: 35 municipal elementary schools, 15 junior high schools, and 2 compulsory education schools (total of 52 schools)

Number of Units: 208 units in total

Installation Locations: Shared spaces within school premises

Operation Start: Sequentially from July 2026 (Reiwa 8)
