To efficiently carry out forest maintenance, our city will enter into an agreement on "Forest Maintenance River Basin Collaboration" with Chiba City, Sakura City, and the Chiba Prefectural Forest Management Council, marking the first such initiative in the prefecture.

A signing ceremony for this agreement will be held as follows:

Date and Time: May 14, Reiwa 8 (Thursday), from 1:30 PM (approximately 30 minutes)

Location: Chiba Prefectural Government Main Building, 5th Floor Conference Room

Attendees: Toshito Kumagai, Governor of Chiba Prefecture; Shunichi Kamiya, Mayor of Chiba City; Misoji Nishida, Mayor of Sakura City; Yosuke Suzuki, Mayor of Yotsukaido City; Teruko Nakata, Chairman of the Chiba Prefectural Forest Management Council.

Overview of the Agreement: This collaboration is the first initiative in the prefecture where neighboring cities in a river basin will utilize the Forest Environment Transfer Tax to jointly promote forest maintenance. By integrally promoting forest maintenance in the Kashima River basin, which flows through Chiba City, Sakura City, and Yotsukaido City, it is expected that the forests will demonstrate functions such as preventing sediment disasters and controlling rainwater runoff.

*About the Chiba Prefectural Forest Management Council: This council is organized by municipalities to provide consultation and support for various forest and forestry policies undertaken by municipalities. The secretariat is handled by the Chiba Prefectural Federation of Forest Owners' Cooperatives. Under this agreement, the council will undertake operations related to the implementation of the project.
