Seminar Overview:
Low-temperature heat energy, such as industrial waste heat and ambient heat, is difficult to utilize effectively due to its low temperature, and much of it dissipates unused.
However, achieving a carbon-neutral society requires treating previously undervalued low-temperature heat as a new resource—an increasingly critical challenge.
This lecture will focus on 'heat-absorbing power generation,' a technology that generates electricity while absorbing heat, introducing a novel approach to resource utilization of low-temperature heat.
Heat-absorbing power generation operates on a principle different from conventional Seebeck-type thermoelectric conversion, enabling direct conversion of ambient heat into electricity. This unique feature not only enables energy recovery from unused low-temperature heat but also offers the added value of simultaneous cooling.
This lecture will specifically focus on Semiconductor-Sensitized Thermal Cells (STC), explaining their fundamental principles and material design concepts, while also presenting the latest research findings and pilot test results on power generation characteristics and heat absorption behavior under low-temperature conditions.
