CMIC has been developing internal guidelines for AI utilization, implementing education and training for appropriate AI use, and progressively introducing AI tools. Furthermore, with a view to advancing its business operations, CMIC has also embarked on advanced initiatives, including the strategic introduction of agent-type AI. This basic policy, based on the knowledge accumulated through these practical experiences, aims to articulate common values and decision-making principles across the entire company, thereby deepening AI utilization and establishing governance simultaneously.
Background
AI technology is rapidly spreading as a tool to improve operational efficiency and sophistication. On the other hand, new challenges such as information security, privacy, ethics, and bias have also emerged.
As a CRO supporting the development and post-marketing activities of pharmaceuticals and medical devices, CMIC operates in a business that demands high quality and reliability. Moreover, to advance clients' pharmaceutical development and post-marketing operations swiftly and reliably, and to deliver value to patients faster, CMIC is promoting aggressive AI utilization as a management policy. Therefore, considering the characteristics of its business, CMIC believes that risk management and governance assurance in AI utilization are indispensable.
Based on this recognition, CMIC has been progressively deepening its understanding of AI utilization and building an operational foundation since an early stage. This basic policy has now been established to integrate these efforts and present them clearly externally.

CMIC has been promoting the following initiatives across the group since 2023 for the application of AI in business operations:

- December 2025: Strategic business partnership established with Bluenote, a US-based provider of AI platforms specialized for life sciences. Further promotion of initiatives for regulatory document creation support and advanced quality control using agent-type AI.

Positioning of the AI Basic Policy
This basic policy is positioned as the highest guideline for AI utilization at CMIC, indicating the direction of AI utilization in conjunction with existing AI guidelines and various internal regulations.
