The Israeli military announced on the 26th that it conducted an airstrike in the Rimal district of western Gaza City, targeting Mohammed Odeh, the new leader of Hamas's military wing. According to the Hamas-run civil defense agency, the strike resulted in at least 3 deaths and 20 injuries. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a joint statement identifying Odeh as a mastermind of the October 7 massacre and the successor to the previous commander killed days earlier. Odeh, who previously served as head of Hamas's intelligence division, is held responsible for the killing, kidnapping, and wounding of numerous Israeli civilians and soldiers. Israel remains committed to dismantling the organization.
