Construction Begins on Taipei's 'Jinhua Special 5' Social Housing, 437 Units Expected by 2031

The Taipei City Department of Urban Development held a groundbreaking ceremony today for the 'Jinhua Special 5' social housing project near Jinhua Street and Hangzhou South Road. The project involves constructing a 22-story building with 437 social housing units. Floors above the third level will be residential, while the lower levels will feature an aerial running track, a kindergarten, and exhibition spaces. The total budget is NT$4.398 billion. Historical structures, specifically the old Taipei Prison drainage system, will be restored and returned to their original site. Additionally, the adjacent 'Special 4' site is planned for an 11-story administrative building housing a fire station and police station, with completion also targeted for 2031.
