Shoucheng Bridge in Puli Township, Nantou County, which was damaged and subsided due to Typhoon Khanun in 2023, has completed reconstruction and held an opening ceremony today. The new bridge features two-way lanes and a sidewalk, with significantly improved structural safety and resistance to flood erosion. The bridge spans the Mei River and is a vital link for the Wugong, Danao, and Niumian neighborhoods. Following the typhoon, the bridge was closed due to foundation scouring and subsidence. The county government secured NT$194.5 million in disaster recovery funding from the Public Construction Commission and completed the project in April after two years of construction. Deputy County Magistrate Wang Rui-de stated that the number of bridge piers was reduced from three to two to minimize water flow impact, and a deep foundation design was adopted to enhance resistance to scouring. The steel structure also incorporates curved designs and red cultural motifs of the Atayal people.
