Keelung Bird Society Urges City to Stop Distributing Rat Poison to Protect Raptors

Zheng Wei, chairman of the Keelung Bird Society, issued an open letter urging the Keelung City Government to stop the indiscriminate distribution of rat poison, citing the threat of secondary poisoning to raptors like the black kite. Rat poison accumulates in the bodies of raptors, often leading to fatal internal bleeding. The society recommends focusing on environmental cleaning and physical rodent control measures instead. The city government responded that it is providing consultations through professional teams and promoting rodent-proofing measures.
