Yilan Fire Bureau Official Investigated for Fraudulent Meal Expense Claims, Battalion Chief Released on NT$100,000 Bail

The Yilan District Prosecutors Office is investigating a case of fraudulent meal expense claims by the Yilan County Fire Bureau. On the 26th, authorities searched the Disaster Rescue Division and questioned Zhang Shunyao, the former division chief and current battalion chief. Prosecutors are investigating Zhang and three others for document forgery and corruption. Zhang and a man surnamed Lai were released on NT$100,000 bail each, while a man surnamed Lin was released on NT$50,000 bail. Prosecutors suspect the bureau inflated expenses or filed claims for non-existent meals and are expanding the investigation to check for potential embezzlement.
