Government Launches New Population Strategy; Lai Ching-te Calls for Enhanced Promotion

President Lai Ching-te, concurrently serving as the DPP chairman, stated at the Central Executive Committee meeting today that the government will promote the 'New Strategy for Taiwan's Population - Family Support Edition.' Through four major strategies—increasing subsidies, reducing burdens, enhancing flexibility, and expanding care—and 18 specific measures, the government aims to assist citizens in balancing work and family life. Lai urged party officials to strengthen public promotion of these policies. DPP spokesperson Wu Zheng relayed that after hearing the Executive Yuan's report at a national security meeting this morning, Lai announced the plan. The initiative covers five aspects: safe childbirth and parenting, childcare reinforcement, educational support, workplace friendliness, and housing relief. By providing substantial assistance in marriage, pregnancy, parenting, and workplace support, the government hopes to alleviate the burden on the younger generation. Lai emphasized that only through unified efforts between central and local governments can national policies and public welfare be effectively advanced.
