Lin Chia-lung: Democracy in Taiwan is not just a political system, but a lifestyle and identity

CNA reporter Yang Yao-ru, Taipei, May 27. The Forum 2000 held its first event in Taipei, focusing on democratic cooperation. Jakub Klepal, CEO of the Forum 2000 Foundation, stated that the Czech Republic is one of Taiwan's closest European friends. Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung remarked that democracy in Taiwan is not just a political system, but 'our way of life and an identity we have fought for.' The forum, attended by officials including Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Council Lin Fei-fan, highlighted Taiwan's position at the core of the first island chain. Lin emphasized that Taiwan's story validates democratic values. He noted that peace in the Taiwan Strait is a global challenge and that building a trusted technology ecosystem is a pillar of global democracy.
