Three Dolphins Found Dead in Penghu's Qingluo Wetland; Cause of Death Under Investigation

(Central News Agency, Penghu, 27th) Three stranded Pantropical spotted dolphins were found dead today in the Qingluo Wetland in Penghu. Whether these are the same three dolphins that swam out from Shagang West Port yesterday will be determined by the Taiwan Cetacean Society through necropsy and comparison to clarify the true cause of death and identify the animals.

The Penghu County Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau received a report from the Hongluo Coast Guard Inspection Post at noon today regarding the three dead dolphins found in the Huxi Qingluo Wetland. Preliminary visual identification confirmed the species as Pantropical spotted dolphins. One of them, a male, showed no obvious signs of bloating or decay and will be moved to a necropsy facility.

The Agriculture and Fisheries Bureau stated that the Taiwan Cetacean Society will compare the findings to determine if these are the same three dolphins that swam out from Shagang West Port during high tide yesterday, in order to clarify the cause of death and identify the animals.

The Bureau urges the public that if they encounter lost or stranded cetaceans or sea turtles, they should not feed or interfere with their activities.
