MOEA: 4 State-Owned Enterprises Operate 13 Childcare Facilities, Committed to Policy

(CNA) President Lai Ching-te announced 18 measures under the 'New Strategy for Taiwan's Population—Family Support,' which includes promoting the establishment of nurseries and kindergartens in the public sector and state-owned enterprises. In response, the MOEA Department of Personnel stated that the four state-owned enterprises under the MOEA currently operate 13 childcare facilities, with a total capacity of 554 children. They will continue to cooperate with the policy to provide better services for employees. The four state-owned enterprises—Taipower, CPC Corporation, Taiwan Sugar, and Taiwan Water—all currently have self-operated childcare facilities, such as nurseries, kindergartens, or workplace childcare service centers. The MOEA Department of Personnel explained that CPC operates 4 facilities with a capacity of 266; Taipower operates 7 facilities with a capacity of 224; Taiwan Sugar operates 1 facility with a capacity of 24; and Taiwan Water operates 1 facility with a capacity of 40. The MOEA stated that these facilities are primarily based on employee needs, partnering with childcare providers near offices to offer discounted plans. Regarding the government's push for more facilities, Taiwan Water plans to build a workplace childcare center in its new office area in Taichung, stating, 'We will continue to cooperate with the policy to provide better services for our employees.'
