Central News Agency (Dharamshala, 27th) Penpa Tsering, the highest administrative leader of the Tibetan government-in-exile, was sworn in for a second term today. The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, attended the ceremony to offer prayers. According to AFP, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), based in India, is a crucial institution for exiled Tibetans, especially since the Dalai Lama transferred his political powers in 2011. Elections were held in 27 countries this year in February and April, excluding China. The leader, known as the "Sikyong," Penpa Tsering, secured 61% of the vote in the first round, successfully winning re-election. Live footage showed Penpa Tsering taking the oath of office before judicial officials, with the Dalai Lama present as a witness. At the ceremony in the northern Indian mountain town of Dharamshala, traditional dance groups performed, and the audience included many monks and nuns dressed in red robes.
