According to the Yunlin County Police Department, 200 cases of drug-driving have been detected from New Year's Day to May 26. These incidents resulted in three accidents, leaving six people injured. In response to inquiries from local councilors, Police Chief Huang Fu-tsun stated that the spread of the emerging drug 'Etomidate' is a serious concern and that the police will combine traffic enforcement with forensic technology to combat drug-driving. While the department currently has about 600 saliva drug test kits in stock, it plans to purchase 1,300 additional kits by mid-June to enhance on-site testing capabilities. The police will also increase checkpoints and conduct thorough inspections of suspicious vehicles.
