The Taiwanese government has announced 18 new measures under the 'New Strategy for Taiwan's Population—Family Support' to address the challenges of a declining birth rate and changing demographic structure. Minister of Health and Welfare Hsueh Jui-yuan stated that the initial goal of these measures is to return the birth rate to its previous trend and eventually reverse the decline. A key component is the 'Growth Allowance' for children aged 0 to 18, providing 5,000 NTD per month. For children aged 0-6, the full amount is provided directly, while for those aged 6-18, half will be set aside and invested by the government. Minister Hsueh explained that these measures will be implemented as administrative benefits and included in the 2027 (Year 116) government budget. The implementation is subject to the Legislative Yuan's budget review process.
