MOI: Fraud losses down 36% in April; AI to be integrated into 165 hotline

The Ministry of the Interior (MOI) announced that due to anti-fraud policies, fraud cases in April totaled 13,851 with losses of approximately NT$4.93 billion, a decrease of 13% and 36% respectively compared to last year. Minister Liu Shih-fang stated that to counter evolving fraud tactics, the government will integrate AI into the 165 anti-fraud hotline to improve efficiency. The implementation will occur in phases between 2027 and 2028, including AI-powered transcription, summary generation, and automated customer service. Additionally, a 'Financial Anti-Fraud Platform' will be built in collaboration with financial institutions.
