The Taipei City Government and Taipower reached a consensus on the 27th to construct the Wenlin substation near the Beitou-Shilin Technology Park (Beishike) as an underground facility. DPP Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Po-yang welcomed the move, calling it a positive first step toward stable power supply. Shen visited the site with Legislator Wu Si-yao. Mayor Chiang Wan-an explained in the city council that the city and Taipower had engaged in intensive discussions, ultimately agreeing on an underground design in line with urban planning principles. He emphasized the need to prepare for future power demand. Taipower stated that the construction period is approximately 6-7 years, with plans to build a temporary substation in the meantime. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang has also highlighted the importance of energy supply in Taiwan, making this agreement a foundation for industrial development.
