Fatal Accident on Hsinchu's Provincial Highway 68: Truck Driver Dies After Crashing into Guardrail

According to a report from CNA, a fatal traffic accident occurred today on Provincial Highway 68 in Hsinchu City. A seafood delivery truck crashed into a side guardrail at the Zhonghua Road ramp for unknown reasons. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was crushed to death by his own truck. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

According to the Hsinchu City Fire Bureau, they received a report at noon today regarding an accident on the ramp leading from Highway 68 toward Zhudong. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched.

Police and fire officials stated that the truck had struck the side of the ramp, causing severe damage to the front of the vehicle and shattering the windshield. The driver appeared to have been ejected in front of the vehicle and was pinned between the truck and the guardrail. He suffered a fractured skull and multiple fractures, and was confirmed dead at the scene.

Because the victim was trapped beneath the deformed vehicle, rescue workers coordinated with a private crane operator to lift the truck about 30 minutes after the incident. The case has been handed over to local police to clarify the cause of the accident.
