Central News Agency, Keelung, May 28. A contractor for Keelung City Hospital is suspected of failing to transport waste to legal disposal sites, violating the Waste Disposal Act. Prosecutors searched the hospital and other locations today and questioned relevant personnel. The Keelung City Environmental Protection Bureau discovered the issue during an inspection in February. The Keelung District Prosecutors Office launched an investigation, searching five locations including the hospital and the contractor's office, and questioning seven individuals. The city government stated that the contractor has been fined and reported to the Ministry of Environment for potential criminal liability. The city noted that the search focused on a contract staff member at the hospital, and the hospital is cooperating fully. The hospital intends to hold the contractor accountable for contract breaches.
