New Taipei man arrested for marriage fraud; prosecutors seize over 1 million TWD

According to the Central News Agency, a man surnamed Lo from New Taipei City was arrested by the Changhua District Prosecutors Office on the 26th for allegedly defrauding multiple women using fake marriage schemes via dating apps and social media. After questioning, prosecutors determined there was a high risk of evidence destruction and recidivism, leading to his detention. The suspect used platforms like Omi, Tantan, and Instagram to commit the fraud. During a search of his residence, authorities seized ID cards, instructional manuals, engagement rings, 1.16 million TWD in cash, luxury clothing, handbags, and imported vehicles. Prosecutors urge the public to remain vigilant when making friends online to avoid falling into such traps.
