Young Farmer Yang Ce Wins Agricultural Expert Award for Data-Driven Poultry Management

Yang Ce, a 24-year-old young farmer from Miaoli County, has been recognized for his innovative management of a pullet-rearing farm, utilizing modern data management and scientific disease prevention. His contributions to the poultry industry earned him second place in the 115th National Agricultural Expert Competition, for which he was honored at the county government office today. County Magistrate Chung Tung-chin praised Yang for breaking away from traditional business models and setting a new benchmark for the poultry industry. Yang, who studied at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, decided to transition from broiler farming to pullet rearing. Addressing industry issues such as opaque information and inconsistent quality, Yang introduced 'disintermediation' and data-driven management, combined with scientific measures like ELISA testing to monitor flock health in real-time. The County Agriculture Department noted that Yang's farm plays a critical role in the supply chain by raising day-old chicks to 90 days before supplying them to egg farmers. Magistrate Chung expressed hope that more young farmers would follow Yang's lead to promote agricultural innovation and sustainable development in Miaoli.
