Former Changhua Mayor Chiu Chien-fu, who lost the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) primary for Changhua County Magistrate, posted on his Facebook page that he is 'ready.' In an interview, Chiu admitted that he most wants to run for county magistrate and would leave the party if he decides to do so. He is currently organizing his campaign and will announce his decision by August 31. Chiu previously participated in the DPP primary, where legislator Chen Su-yueh was nominated. Chiu claims that many citizens have urged him to run, citing his 12 years of grassroots work across the county. He believes he has an advantage over other candidates in terms of administrative experience and leadership. Meanwhile, Yang Fu-chun, chairman of the DPP's Changhua County branch, stated that the party cannot comment on Chiu's post but hopes for party unity to win the year-end election.
