New Ambassador of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Taiwan Assumes Office; President Hopes for Deepened Cooperation

President Lai Ching-te accepted the credentials of Kenton Chance, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Taiwan, today. The President expressed his hope that through Ambassador Chance's deep ties with Taiwan, the two countries will continue to deepen cooperation in areas such as agriculture, infrastructure, ICT, and healthcare, achieving mutual prosperity and strengthening bilateral ties. In his remarks, President Lai noted that August 15th marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Taiwan and St. Vincent. He welcomed Ambassador Chance at this significant moment and looked forward to witnessing a new milestone in bilateral relations. The President highlighted that Ambassador Chance has long worked in media and communications, and has deep roots in Taiwan, having earned his bachelor's and master's degrees at Ming Chuan University. He expressed confidence that with the Ambassador's assistance, bilateral relations will grow even stronger. President Lai pointed out that since establishing ties in 1981, both nations have achieved fruitful results in various fields. He hopes to continue deepening cooperation based on smart agriculture and smart healthcare. The President thanked St. Vincent for speaking up for Taiwan in international forums such as the UN General Assembly and the World Health Assembly, and expressed hope for continued support for Taiwan's international participation. Ambassador Chance stated that since his first visit to Taiwan in 2006, the education he received has greatly benefited him. He expressed his honor to serve as ambassador during the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations and pledged to build upon the solid foundation laid by his predecessor, Andrea Clare Bowman, to further deepen bilateral relations.
