The National Credit Card Center (NCCC) released a report on the spending patterns of Japanese tourists in Taiwan on the 28th. Last year, total spending by Japanese cardholders in Taiwan reached approximately NT$6.8 billion, a 14.28% increase, with transaction volume rising 33.01% to 4.67 million. While spending remains concentrated in accommodation, department stores, and dining, there is a notable surge in frequent, small-value transactions at restaurants and convenience stores. Spending is centered in Taipei but is spreading to regional tourist spots like Ruifang (Jiufen, Jinguashi) and Pingxi. The NCCC suggests Taiwan is successfully positioning itself as a high-quality short-haul travel destination.
