Building Permit for Qionglin Hillside Land Questioned Over Funeral Facility Use; Hsinchu County Government: No Permit Issued

New Power Party Chair Wang Yu-yu held a press conference today questioning a development on hillside land in Qionglin Township, Hsinchu County. The developer obtained a building permit for a 'factory/warehouse,' but the project is allegedly being planned as a 'Qionglin Memorial Hall' with funeral facilities. Wang questioned the discrepancy between the approved use and the actual plan. The Hsinchu County government stated in writing that it has not received any applications for funeral facilities and has not issued any such permits. If the building is found to be used as a funeral facility without approval after completion, it will be penalized according to the Funeral Management Act. The developer told the media that the permit was applied for legally and the site is intended for storing and displaying funeral-related items, not as a memorial hall.
