A bento shop in Kinmen is suspected of causing a mass food poisoning incident. The Kinmen County Health Bureau has ordered the shop to suspend operations. The Kinmen District Prosecutors Office stated today that it has summoned the person in charge and is reviewing inspection records and medical records to determine if the shop is liable for criminal charges under the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation or for negligent injury under the Criminal Code. According to the Health Bureau, 40 people have sought medical attention for symptoms such as nausea and diarrhea as of today. Inspections revealed issues such as the presence of pests, and the shop has been ordered to clean and disinfect the premises. It cannot resume operations until it passes a re-inspection.
