Thunderstorm Alert for Central and Northern Taiwan Due to Front; Typhoon Chan-hom to Become Moderate by Night of the 29th

According to the Central Weather Administration, from tonight through tomorrow, showers and thunderstorms are expected in central and northern Taiwan and the Yilan area, with localized thunderstorms in other areas in the afternoon. Typhoon Chan-hom is expected to develop into a moderate typhoon between the night of the 29th and the 30th, and will be closest to Taiwan between May 31 and June 1. A weather forecaster stated that while the typhoon is unlikely to make direct landfall in Taiwan, its outer cloud bands may bring rain to northern and Yilan areas. Additionally, inland southern areas may experience high temperatures of 36-37 degrees Celsius, requiring caution against heatstroke.
