According to the Central News Agency, at the Asian U20 Athletics Championships in Hong Kong, 15-year-old Taiwanese athlete Chen Yi-cen clocked a season-best 53.16 seconds in the women's 400m final today, adding a silver medal to the team's tally and meeting the qualifying standard for the Nagoya Asian Games. Chen first made a name for herself at the Tainan National Games at age 13, becoming the youngest gold medalist in the event's history. Despite being the youngest of the eight finalists today, she started strong and secured the silver medal, meeting the 53.50-second standard for the Nagoya Asian Games. Chen, who will turn 16 next month, has been studying at Chukyo University Senior High School in Japan since last November. Her coach, Lin Chih-wei, expressed pride in her performance and noted that they are maintaining close contact with her Japanese coaches to ensure she stays in top form.
