Show Chwan Memorial Hospital is urging patients with Myasthenia Gravis (MG) to seek early medical attention if symptoms worsen. MG is an autoimmune disease where the immune system mistakenly attacks the junction between nerves and muscles, leading to muscle weakness. Common clinical symptoms include drooping eyelids, double vision, difficulty swallowing, and respiratory distress. The hospital has successfully treated severe cases using C5 complement inhibitors. However, it is noted that no biologics for MG treatment are currently covered by Taiwan's National Health Insurance. Doctors recommend that anyone experiencing persistent symptoms should consult a neurologist immediately.
