At the beginning of May, an incident occurred at Jiande Junior High School in Keelung where students fell ill and were hospitalized due to abnormal water quality in the school's swimming pool. According to a city councilor, on the evening of May 5, members of the swimming team noticed a strong, pungent odor upon entering the pool and subsequently felt unwell. The City Education Department immediately suspended the pool's use and conducted inspections with the Health Bureau. Mayor Hsieh Kuo-liang stated that the city would review management standards with the highest level of scrutiny and promised a thorough investigation. The pool was reopened on the 8th after water quality improvements.
