Tashan Trail to Close for Repairs in July; 'Xi-A' Traverse Hikers Must Turn Back

According to an inspection report for the Tashan Trail within the Alishan National Forest Recreation Area, the wooden structure of the railway overpass has deteriorated, posing safety concerns. The trail will be closed for repairs from July until the end of June 2027. During this period, hikers attempting the 'Xi-A' traverse from Xitou to Alishan must turn back at the wooden platform before the Tashan Trail. The Chiayi Branch of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency stated that four sections of the wooden structure on the overpass, located 220 meters from the start of the trail, have deteriorated, compromising the stability of the facility. Walking on the railway tracks during the closure is prohibited, and violators may be fined between NT$10,000 and NT$50,000 under the Railway Act.
