The EU fined Temu, owned by Pinduoduo, 200 million euros (approx. 7.3 billion NTD) on the 28th for violating the Digital Markets Act. Regulators stated that Temu failed to identify and analyze systemic risks regarding illegal products, such as non-compliant chargers and dangerous toys. Temu called the fine 'excessive' but must submit a compliance plan by August 28th. Since entering the EU market in 2023, Temu has gained 130 million users, attracted by its low-price model.
