The 2026 Fulong International Sand Sculpture Art Festival opened today at the Fullon Hotel Fulong, running until October 26th. This year's theme, 'Universal Summer Sand Party,' features over 40 large sculptures created by more than 15 artists, showcasing popular IPs such as 'Jurassic World,' 'Jaws,' 'E.T.,' 'Kung Fu Panda,' and 'Madagascar.' The main attraction is the castle from the 'Shrek' movie. Dai Rui-hong, General Manager of Fullon Hotel Fulong, stated that the festival has been held for 19 consecutive years and hopes to attract more tourists to the Northeast Coast through additional events like the Starlight Cinema and Ocean Music Festival. Huang Yi-cheng, Chief Secretary of the Tourism Administration, noted that the festival has become a representative summer tourism brand in Taiwan. To celebrate the opening, children under 12 wearing themed accessories get free entry until May 31st. In June, 'Student Day' on Wednesdays allows elementary students with a 100-point test score to enter for free, while 'Bikini Day' on Thursdays offers free entry to those wearing bikinis.
