The Legislative Yuan voted on the 31st to fast-track the Air Pollution Control Act amendment. The Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) warned that at a time when AI development is driving electricity demand, this amendment could impact the operations of approximately 8,000 companies, including those in the semiconductor and steel sectors. There are five unresolved issues, including permit review processes and excessive local government discretion. The MOEA is calling for the maintenance of the current system and further public hearings. Taipower has also warned of risks to stable power supply.
