Northwestern University screened the semiconductor history documentary 'The Mountain Builders' on the 28th. Lei Yen-feng, Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago, expressed hope that the film would deepen the complementary partnership between Taiwan and the US, fostering exchanges between Taiwan and the US Midwest's tech hubs. The screening was attended by producer Johnny Chiang, Chicago city officials, Illinois state representatives, and over 200 faculty and students. Lei highlighted the long-standing partnership between Northwestern and Taiwan's industry, government, and academia. He noted that Taiwan is the US's fourth-largest trading partner and a key strategic partner in the global high-tech supply chain. Illinois also announced plans to open an office in Taiwan later this year. Su Chi-wen, President of the Taiwanese American Chamber of Commerce in Chicago, praised the film for showcasing Taiwan's innovation. A discussion followed the screening featuring Professor Craig Duff and producer Johnny Chiang.
