Heavy Rain Alert for Kaohsiung Mountains; Pingtung and 6 Other Counties Advised to Stay Alert

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications has issued a heavy rain alert. Due to the development of convective cloud systems in the afternoon, short-duration heavy rainfall is likely. Localized heavy rain or torrential rain is expected in the mountainous areas of Kaohsiung City today. There is also a chance of localized heavy rain in the Pingtung area, as well as the mountainous regions of Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi County, Hualien, and Taitung. The CWA reminds the public to be aware of lightning strikes and strong gusts. In mountainous areas, caution should be exercised regarding landslides, falling rocks, and sudden rises in river levels, while low-lying areas should be alert for potential flooding.
