Middle Eastern Man Caught in Taiwan with Fake Passport While Attempting to Smuggle into Europe

The National Immigration Agency (NIA) Border Affairs Corps announced on the 30th that they apprehended a Middle Eastern man whose travel itinerary appeared suspicious while transiting through Taiwan to Europe. The man was found to be carrying a forged Mauritian passport, which he admitted to purchasing for 8,000 USD (approximately 250,000 TWD). According to the Border Affairs Corps, the man arrived at Taoyuan International Airport from Bali, Indonesia, and was scheduled to transfer to a flight to Europe. Upon inspection by immigration officers using professional forensic equipment, it was discovered that the passport's security features were inconsistent and the data page showed clear signs of tampering. Although the man initially denied the allegations in fluent English, he confessed after being confronted with the evidence. He was deported back to Bali in accordance with the law.
