As US President Donald Trump considers extending a ceasefire agreement, Iran fired a ballistic missile at a Kuwaiti airbase within the past 24 hours. Although Kuwait successfully intercepted the missile, the falling debris caused minor injuries to several US personnel and severely damaged two US MQ-9 Reaper drones. Bloomberg News reported that an unnamed source revealed Kuwaiti air defense forces intercepted the Iranian-launched Fateh-110 missile, but the falling debris struck Ali Al Salem Air Base. The source noted that about five people, including contractors and active-duty personnel, sustained minor injuries. One Reaper drone was destroyed, and at least one other was severely damaged; each such drone costs approximately $30 million (about NT$940 million). US Central Command (CENTCOM) has not yet responded to a request for comment. Bloomberg wrote that the attack on Kuwait occurred while the US was considering an agreement to extend the fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran that has been in place since April; both countries have launched attacks during the ceasefire period. Trump posted on social media yesterday that he was prepared to make a 'final decision' on a preliminary agreement to extend the ceasefire. However, according to a White House official who requested anonymity, the President did not announce any conclusions after a meeting in the White House Situation Room yesterday.
